Our take
A must-have for frequent Amazon shoppers
Alright, so the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card is kinda like the trusty sidekick for folks who spend a lot on Amazon and Whole Foods. If you're a Prime member, you snag 5% back on all those purchases, which is pretty sweet if you're like me and have a few too many Amazon boxes showing up at your door. But, if you’re not a Prime member, that drops to 3%, so it’s really a card that’s only shining for Prime folks.
Now, outside the Amazon bubble, you get 2% back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores. It's nice, but nothing to write home about. I mean, other cards offer similar or better perks for those categories without tying you to a specific retailer. Everything else only gives you 1% back, so if you’re not a big Amazon shopper, the card might not be the best fit for your lifestyle.
The cool thing is there’s no annual fee, but there’s a catch: you need to be a Prime member, which costs its own annual fee. So, technically, you’re still paying to get those benefits. If you're already a Prime member, then it's less of an issue, but it's something to consider if you're on the fence about Prime in general.
In terms of other features, this card doesn’t really pack a punch. There’s no introductory APR offer or flashy travel perks. But, hey, it doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, which is a lifesaver if you're overseas and don’t want to get hit with extra charges. It's a straightforward card that knows its audience: loyal Amazon shoppers who want to maximize their spending power.
Overall, if you're all about that Amazon life and already locked into Prime, this card’s gonna give you some solid returns. But, if you’re not shopping there often or you're hunting for more versatile rewards, you might want to look elsewhere. It's a great card if it fits your spending habits, but not something to force into your wallet just because it sounds good on paper.
