Our take
Productivity made simple.
Alright, so Any.do is like that friend who swears they can help you get your life together. It’s basically a task management app, trying to juggle your to-dos, calendar events, and reminders all in one place. The interface is clean and pretty intuitive, which is nice. You can create tasks, add subtasks, and set deadlines, which sounds straightforward but is just what you need sometimes. The drag-and-drop feature is actually pretty slick, making it easy to prioritize tasks on the fly. But, if you're looking for deep customization, it might leave you wanting more. It's kind of like buying a toolset and realizing you only need the hammer.
Now, the calendar integration is where things get interesting. It syncs with your Google Calendar, which is cool because who doesn't have a Google Calendar these days? But, it’s not always seamless. Sometimes events don’t sync perfectly, and that can be a bit annoying if you’re relying on it to keep your schedule tight. So, if you’re expecting it to replace your main calendar app, you might end up a little disappointed. It’s more of a sidekick than a superhero in that department.
Speaking of reminders, Any.do has a nifty feature where it can remind you based on your location. Like, you can set it to remind you to buy groceries when you’re near the store. It sounds pretty clever in theory, but in practice, it doesn’t always hit the mark. The GPS-based reminders can be a bit finicky, sometimes alerting you when you’re nowhere near the intended location. So, it’s a nice touch, but don’t rely on it too heavily.
One thing that’s definitely worth noting is the collaboration feature. You can share tasks with other people, which is handy for group projects or just getting your partner to remember to pick up milk. It’s not as robust as some dedicated team apps like Trello or Asana, but for simple task sharing, it does the job. Just don’t expect it to replace your team’s main project management tool. It's more like a quick way to keep a few folks in the loop without getting too serious about it.
Finally, there’s the premium version which unlocks more features like recurring tasks and color tags. But, honestly, the free version is decent enough for most everyday uses. If you’re just trying to keep track of your chores or remind yourself to call your mom, you probably don’t need to shell out the extra cash. But if you’re all about those extra bells and whistles, it’s something to consider. So, there it is: Any.do — a solid, if not perfect, tool to keep your life from spinning out of control.
