Our take

The simple choice for cloud enthusiasts.

Alright, so the Chromebook Pixelbook Go is one of those gadgets that makes you question if you're getting enough bang for your buck. It's on the pricier side for a Chromebook, and while it's got some cool features, you really have to decide if they're worth the extra cash. The design is slick, no doubt about that, with a magnesium alloy body that feels premium and is easy to lug around. But, if you're just looking to do basic web browsing and streaming, this might feel like overkill.

Performance-wise, it's pretty snappy. The Intel Core m3 processor in the base model is no slouch for everyday tasks, and if you spring for the higher-end models, you're gonna get even more zip. Chrome OS runs smooth as butter here, and the battery life is stellar. You can easily go a whole day without scrambling for a charger, which is awesome if you're always on the move. But remember, Chrome OS is still a bit limited when it comes to software, so if you're looking to do heavy-duty work, you might hit some roadblocks.

The display is another highlight. The 1080p touchscreen looks crisp and vibrant, making it great for watching videos or working on documents. It's not 4K, but honestly, on a 13.3-inch screen, it's not a dealbreaker unless you're super picky about pixels. The speakers are surprisingly decent, too, though they're not gonna blow you away. If you're all about that audio quality, you'd still want a pair of headphones nearby.

Typing on the Pixelbook Go is a joy. The keyboard is quiet and comfortable, with just the right amount of travel. It's one of the best keyboards I've used on a laptop, Chromebook or otherwise. The backlighting is a nice touch for working late, but keep in mind there's no biometric login option, which is a bit of a bummer. You gotta stick with passwords or PINs, which feels a little behind the times in 2023.

In the end, the Chromebook Pixelbook Go is solid, but it's all about what you need in a laptop. If you're a Chrome OS fan who wants a premium experience with long battery life, this is a great pick. But if you're just testing the waters with Chromebooks or need something more versatile, you might find it hard to justify the price tag. It's a great device, no doubt, but only if you’re gonna use what it offers to its fullest.
